Psychological consultations in English

English-speaking psychologist in Paris

It can be easier to express what we are going through when we are able to speak in the language we feel comfortable in.

Soumaya Triki offers psychological consultations in English, as well as in French and Arabic, in a setting of listening, respect and confidentiality. The aim is to offer a space where you can pause, put words to what you are experiencing, and better understand what is happening.

An integrative approach

Soumaya Triki takes an integrative approach to psychology, looking at the person as a whole — their history, the way they think, their emotions, their behaviour and the environment they live in.

This approach is grounded in her training in clinical psychology and psychopathology, and draws on knowledge and approaches from analytic, cognitive, behavioural and neurocognitive fields.

There is no single method that suits everyone. The space for dialogue and support is therefore shaped around each person's needs and context.

Why can it help to speak in English?

For some people, speaking in their own language feels more comfortable when it comes to personal experiences or feelings that are hard to express.

A consultation in English can offer a space to:

  • Express what you feel more precisely
  • Put words to an experience that is hard to explain
  • Talk about personal questions or difficulties in a setting of trust
  • Take the time to understand what you are going through, without having to search for words in another language

The aim is not to find a ready-made answer, but to open a space for reflection and understanding.

Expatriation and life in Paris

Moving to Paris, or living in France for several years, often changes several things at once: the language you use every day, your work, your relationships, your habits, and sometimes the way you see yourself.

Expatriation can bring new opportunities as well as moments of isolation, a sense of being out of step, or the loss of familiar landmarks. It can also coincide with other changes — a new job, a separation, starting a family, or thinking about returning home.

A consultation can be a space to talk about this experience — adapting to a new environment, your relationships, the changes in your personal or professional life — and to understand what you are going through, without assuming there is a single answer that suits everyone. You do not need to be feeling very bad to seek a psychological consultation. Sometimes, it is simply a matter of taking the time to understand what is happening.

How do consultations in English work?

The first consultation begins with a meeting and a conversation, to get to know each other and understand what brings you, the context you live in, and what you hope for from this meeting.

There is no single duration or method that suits every situation. The goals and form of the support are defined gradually and together, according to each person's needs and circumstances.

Consultations can take place in English, French or Arabic, depending on the language in which you feel most comfortable. Consultation fees.

The first meeting

The first meeting is above all an opportunity to get to know each other and talk about the situation that led you to seek a consultation.

It can help clarify what you need and what you are hoping for, and whether this setting is right for you.

You do not need to know in advance what you will say, or to come with a precise, clearly defined request.

Frequently asked questions

Can I see a psychologist in English while living in Paris as an expatriate?

Yes. Consultations can take place in English, at the Paris 17e practice, in Houilles or online. Living abroad often shifts several landmarks at once, and adapting to a new environment, a personal or professional transition, or a feeling of being out of step can all be reasons to consult. You do not need to be in difficulty to do so: a consultation can simply be a space to understand what you are going through.
